ROUNDUP: Basic girls cruise to home win

Erika Oceguera finished second as Basic’s girls cross country team had four of the top five finishers on its way to winning a four-team home meet Wednesday.
Boulder City’s Jessica Tobler won the 2.5-mile race in 16 minutes, 1.6 seconds.
Basic’s Oceguera took second in 16:17.7, followed by teammates Jessica Raymond (16:19.9),
Natasha Tomlinson (16:32.4) and Kylie Schmidt (16:59.2).Basic won with 21 points, followed by Boulder City (57) and Liberty (58).
Panthers run past Centennial, Faith Lutheran
At Faith Lutheran, Palo Verde had two of the top three finishers on its way to 32 points and a victory over Centennial (42) and Faith Lutheran (62).
Centennial’s Sydney Badger won the 3.1-mile race in 19:06, eight seconds ahead of Palo Verde’s Katie Gorczyca.
Palo Verde’s Marissa Suan was third in 19:49.
Depth carries Wildcats past Valley, Canyon Springs
At Valley, Las Vegas only placed one of the top four finishers, but used its depth to win a three-team meet.
The Wildcats had a team score of 31. Valley was second with 43, followed by Canyon Springs with 51.
Valley’s Kerri Pasche won the 3.1-mile race in 21:31. Las Vegas’ Alexis Emmerling took second in 21:59, five seconds faster than Valley’s Catrina Fabian.
Chaparral rolls in four-team meet
At Chaparral, depth enabled the Cowboys to win a four-team meet with 27 points, topping Sunrise Mountain (62), Eldorado (63) and Moapa Valley (89).
Sunrise Mountain’s Ebonique Diaz won the 2.6-mile race in 17:23.4.
Eldorado’s Gaby Vasquez was second in 18:02.3, followed by Chaparral’s Peyton Hunton in 18:06.4.
