Bonanza’s wrestling team sweated out a 43-33 win over Pahrump Valley on Saturday in the championship match of the Boulder City Duals in Boulder City.
The Bengals finished 3-1 in the tournament, winning a tiebreaker to claim the top spot in their four-team pool to advance to meet the Trojans, who captured all three of their pool matches.
Basic finished third, followed by Foothill and Boulder City in the eight-team field.
Bonanza was a 71-12 winner over Faith Lutheran and a 41-39 victor over Basic, but dropped a 39-33 verdict to Boulder City in pool matches.
The Trojans advanced to the final by collecting wins of 54-21 over Sierra Vista, 42-21 over Foothill and 60-18 against Mohave (Ariz.).
Palo Verde places second in Green Valley Duals
At Green Valley, Palo Verde finished second by the narrowest of margins in the 16-team Green Valley Duals.
Temecula Valley (Calif.) won the event, wrestling to a 33-33 tie against the Panthers in the title match.
But Temecula Valley won the criteria tiebreaker to place first in the tournament.
Santiago (Calif.) took third, the host Gators were fourth, and Bella Vista (Calif.) placed fifth.
