ROUNDUP: Pilots snap Flower Mound Marcus' 42-game winning streak

Anthony Bennett had 19 points and 12 rebounds Saturday to lead Findlay Prep’s basketball team to a 47-39 win over Flower Mound Marcus (Texas) in Dallas.

The Pilots (6-0) snapped Marcus’ 42-game winning streak by holding the Marauders to just seven fourth-quarter points after the teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 32-32.

The Marauders converted on 15 of 46 field goals in the game.

Nigel Williams-Goss added 10 points for Findlay Prep, which held Marcus star Marcus Smart to 14 points.

It’s the second straight year the Pilots stopped a long winning streak. Findlay Prep beat Yates (Texas) 95-69 last season to halt a 66-game winning streak.

Lowry 79, Virgin Valley 65 — At Winnemucca, Josh Watterson scored 28 points, and the Buckaroos outrebounded the Bulldogs, 54-19 to earn the win in the Lowry Invitational.

Humberto Urias and Nolan Tanner each tallied 18 points for Virgin Valley, which couldn’t overcome a 20-9 first-quarter deficit.

Tyson Teerlink added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Yerington 66, Tech 52 — At Hawthorne, Yerington grabbed a 29-22 halftime lead and downed the Roadrunners in the Mineral County Tournament.

Elijah Robertson paced Tech with 16 points. Bryan Catenza scored 11 for the Roadrunners.

GIRLS

Centennial 82, Reno 56 — At Bishop Manogue, Breanna Workman had 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and the Bulldogs bolted to a 22-9 first-quarter lead on their way to a win over the Huskies.

Tamera Williams and Paige Barber each added 12 points, and Shannon Brown scored 11 for Centennial.

Simone Barber tallied 10 points for the Bulldogs, and teammate Jada Brown added nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Shannon Gough led Reno with 19 points. Megan McGwire scored 13, and Sierra Sobrio tallied 12 points for the Huskies.

Palo Verde 51, Bishop Manogue 44 — At Bishop Manogue, Jasmin Kiley scored 22 of her 28 points in the second half to help the Panthers down the Miners.

The Panthers used a 12-4 run in the third quarter to gain the lead after the teams were tied 18-18 at the half.

Lily Tapusoa and Mikayla Diers each grabbed seven rebounds for Palo Verde.

Pahrump Valley 44, Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 18 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Pahrump used a 12-1 second-quarter run to down the Yellow Jackets in the River Valley Shootout.
