ROUNDUP: Wesen nets four as Gaels retake Southwest lead

Nick Wesen had four goals Thursday to help Bishop Gorman’s boys soccer team move into first place in the Southwest League with a 6-2 win at Sierra Vista.

Blake Balelo added a goal and an assist, and Sean Keith also scored for the Gaels, who improved to 13-0-1 in league play with a one point lead over the Mountain Lions (13-2).

Gorman has two league matches remaining, and Sierra Vista has just one left.

Mike Tonetti and Lance Peters recorded two assists apiece for Gorman.

Miles McRae and Dominic Cardenas scored for Sierra Vista.

Bonanza 1, Desert Oasis 0 — At Bonanza, Fabian Figueroa made 17 saves to earn a shutout as the Bengals nipped the Diamondbacks.

Bonanza’s Juan Soto accounted for all the scoring with a first-half goal.

Western 4, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Western, Diego Ramirez scored two goals, and Armando Herrera added a goal and an assist to lead the Warriors past the Trojans.

Adrian Minjares also scored for Western.

Jose Bautista was in goal for the shutout.

Clark 4, Durango 2 — At Clark, Victor Alvarez had two goals and an assist, and teammate Juan Regalado added a goal and an assist as the Chargers doubled up the Trailblazers.

Issac Huerta also scored for Clark.

Ryan Benevente and Paris Estrada scored for Durango.

Palo Verde 4, Cheyenne 0 — At Palo Verde, Jose Silva scored twice, and Alexander Shackley had two assists as the Panthers blanked the Desert Shields.

Ryan Lipperelli and Jaime Hernandez also scored for Palo Verde.

Yada Dobbs and Josh Dinsmore combined on the shutout.

Centennial 2, Mojave 0 — At Centennial, Blake Frischknecht and Chance Rosa each scored a goal as the Bulldogs shut out the Rattlers.

Aidan Parker was in goal for Centennial.

Legacy 2, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Legacy, Ramon Velazquez scored a goal, and the Longhorns took advantage of an own goal on their way to a win over the Spartans.

Ramon Carvajal posted a six-save shutout for Legacy.

Shadow Ridge 4, Arbor View 2 — At Arbor View, Blake Damato tallied three goals, and Jacob Ewing distributed three assists to help the Mustangs down the Aggies.

Patrick Kamp had a goal and an assist for Shadow Ridge.

Efrem White and Richie Garness scored for Arbor View.

Virgin Valley 2, The Meadows 0 — At The Meadows, Tony Villalobos and Danny Medina each scored a goal as the Bulldogs blanked the Mustangs.

Miguel Martinez made four saves to earn the shutout for Virgin Valley.

Pahrump Valley 7, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Pahrump, Sydney Sladek poured in four goals to help the Trojans cruise past the Crusaders.

Courtney Lindsey added a goal and an assist, and Amber Dove and Kristen Young also scored for Pahrump, which got three assists from Janet Garcia.

Kiaya Nuack made two saves en route to the shutout.
