... wrote on February 10, 2010 04:31 PM: I don't know about fouth best but it was a true u15 team with several freshman and a couploe sophmores that beat greenvalley, then went to california to be seen by a bunch of colleges. How many colleges have you seen in the stands at your high school? It is all about summer ball in Vegas. jmo wrote on February 10, 2010 03:27 PM: Any girl good enough to play D-1 doesn't need some half wit, self serving high school coach to help them get a scholarship. As long as they play club ball over the summer that is. Not sure how many times the Las Vegas Vipers/Green Valley Gators played in front of college coaches the last 2 summers. I do know that Vegas Elites 4th best team beat the Vipers last summer. Whatgoesaround wrote on February 10, 2010 03:08 PM: Don't put words in my mouth. I never said coaches made OFFERS (to Sarah) on the phone to her coaches. It doesn't work that way. I never said coaches did not contact Sarah personally. What I said was that Coach & wife did not let Sarah know coaches were calling about her. Period. FED UP wrote on February 10, 2010 02:32 PM: @ Sam yes you are right Silverado did have 5 girls that played culb ball with the same organization. However coaching is a factor and will continue to be for Silverado. @ Old school thanks for keeping it real and continuing to encourage and work with the girls as well. ... wrote on February 10, 2010 02:01 PM: Get over it already, only a couple more games until green valley is out and Jarvis done. The shame is the state he will leave that program. sam wrote on February 10, 2010 12:12 PM: I hear you old school. What's sad is that not all coaches put the time in that the coaches you just named do, or know what to do with talented players when they do get them. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Silverado have 5 girls that played for Brian Sitter this summer at the beginning of the high school season? So having a successful high school season takes more than just having good players! #30 OLD SCHOOL wrote on February 10, 2010 11:19 AM: I HAVE BEEN A COACH IN THIS VALLEY FOR ABOUT 25 YEARS AND HAVE WORKED WITH YOUNG BOYS AND GIRLS. I DON'T CARE WITH WHAT TEAM YOU PLAY FOR I WILL HELP YOU GET BETTER IF THAT IS YOUR AMBITION. I ALSO HAVE A DAUGHTER AND SON WHO PLAY AND YES MY MAIN INTEREST IS THEM. MY DAUGHTER WAS INJURED AND MIGHT NOT HAVE THE ABILITY AS A LOT OF THE OTHER KIDS IN THE CITY, BUT IT COMES DOWN TO THE EFFORT IN GETTING BETTER. I SEE JARVIS WORKING WITH HIS KIDS ALL SUMMER AND HE PUTS OUT A WELL COACHED TEAM AND AN AGGRESSIVE TEAM EVERY YEAR. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE OTHER KIDS DO ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS, BUT I KNOW HE WOULD PUT IN THE TIME WITH THEM IF THEY WOULD ASK. I SEE HIM AT THE 24 HR FITNESS WORKING WITH KIDS DURING THE OFF SEASON AND TRAVELING OVER THE COUNTRY TRYING TO GET THEM BETTER AND YES HIS DAUGHTER IS ONE OF THOSE KIDS. I WISH HER THE BEST AND PICKUS AND ALL THE KIDS WHO WISH TO PUT IN THE TIME TO GET BETTER. ITS ABOUT THE HOURS OF PRACTICE AND PREPARATION. LIBERTY HAS THE TALENT BECAUSE OF THE TIME THE GIRLS PUT IN NOT ONLY WITH THEIR COACHING STAFF. HE IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE JADE,AMANDA,DESTINY,DAYNICE AND EVEN HIS YOUNGER GROUP PLAYING ALL YEAR AROUND WITH BRIAN SITTER. HE HAS PROVEN TO BE A GOOD COACH BY BEATING GREEN VALLEY TWICE, BUT ON OUR SIDE THAT IS HOW WE DETERMINE WHO IS GOOD BY BEATING GV. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE GIRLS WHO ARE STRIVING TO GET BETTER AND PUT IN THE TIME. GOOD LUCK TO S.E.DIVISION AND CONGRATS TO LIBERTY ON YOUR GREAT SEASON AND FOR YOUR 1ST YEAR COACH. really? wrote on February 10, 2010 10:33 AM: Whatgoesaround are you saying that Pickus has actually had college coaches calling her high school coach about scholarship offers for years? Why wouldn't the college coaches just contact her directly? Sept 1 of her junior year they could have emailed and sent her letters every day if they wanted to and could have called her once in May, twice in June, and 3 times in July. Her senior year (this year) they can call her ONCE PER WEEK if they want to. If a college REALLY wants her to play for them they will make contact. Your story sounds a bit fishy to me. jas wrote on February 10, 2010 10:19 AM: Whatever the motivation is for GV coaching staff, they have always put a competitive team out on the floor. Liberty, GV, Foothill and Silverado basically have the same core players as last year (or Silverado did have until the exodus)in fact Silverado has better players than they did last year. The big difference this year is coaching! Foothill and Liberty actually got better as the year went on. GV has played the same press the same Jas based offense for 4 years, and Silverado, well that coaching staff is a complete joke! Read More Comments |
