Coaches have voted Lincoln County senior point guard Dantley Walker as Player of the Year to headline the Class 2A all-state boys basketball team for the second consecutive season.

Walker, who has committed to UNLV, averaged 36.2 points and 10.3 assists in carrying the Lynx (24-7) to the 2A Southern League semifinals this season.

The 5-foot-11-inch sharpshooter became the state’s all-time leader this season in points (3,304) and assists (887). The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association honored Walker for his career accomplishments before the 2A state title game between Agassi Prep and Incline on Saturday at Orleans Arena.

Coach of the Year was shared by Agassi Prep’s William Hopkins and Incline’s Brian Broaddus.

In his second season at the helm, Hopkins guided the Stars (17-8) to an 89-50 win in the title game for the first state championship in a team sport since the school opened in 2001.

First-team honors also went to Agassi Prep forwards Quincy Brown and Kalinn Jackson, Needles guard Michael Hills, The Meadows forward Garrett Gosse and Mountain View guard Justyn Anderson.

Hills, a junior, led Needles (18-7) to its fourth straight state tournament berth with averages of 17.0 points, 4.4 assists and 2.7 steals.

Mountain View (11-15) missed the playoffs, but Anderson was rewarded after putting up 32.4 points per game as a senior and becoming the state’s fifth all-time leading scorer with 2,415 points.

Needles center Aaron Burns and Lake Mead guard L.J. Yamzon took second-team honors.
