Faith Lutheran senior Renee Vogel and The Meadows senior Garrett Gosse have been named Nevada’s winners of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

The two were selected from a pool of 48,000 applicants and will go on to compete for the national award, which recognizes achievement in athletics, academics and community leadership.

Vogel helped the Crusaders’ girls tennis team to a third-place finish in the Northwest League this season. She also advanced to the round of 16 in the Sunset Region girls singles tournament.

Gosse, a quarterback and defensive back, has guided the Mustangs to a 7-2 record and the Southern League’s No. 2 seed for the Class 2A state playoffs. He has thrown for 2,158 yards and 26 touchdowns this season.
