Virgin Valley's Lewis on track for 3A repeat

Virgin Valley’s Randi Lewis is halfway to repeating as a Class 3A state girls golf champion.

Lewis, who won the title while playing for Boulder City last season, carded a 5-over-par 77 in the opening round of the state tournament at CasaBlanca Golf Club in Mesquite.

The Bulldog junior has a four-stroke lead over South Tahoe’s Morgan Murphy and a five-shot advantage over Boulder City’s Jordan Syler entering Wednesday’s final round at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Mesquite.

Elko leads the team competition with a score of 363. Lowry is second at 377, followed by Virgin Valley at 385 and Spring Creek at 446.
